Martin Cleaver

Martin Cleaver (1949) grew up in London, once played trumpet with Benjamin Britten and studied maths, philosophy and protesting around 1968 at Manchester University. He was co-founder of the Manchester Free Press and worked in a strip club and as taxi driver before moving to Amsterdam in 1973 to work in editing, journalism, radio and TV. He produced the Dutch version of the radio play The Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy and now translates for the Dutch arts and film business. His attempts to subtitle Freek de Jonge won praise in Variety and clients include the Rotterdam Film Festival as well as many Dutch film companies.
