Benjamin McKay |
Benjamin McKay was a lecturer in Film and Visual Studies at Monash University Malaysia. Originally from Australia, Benjamin made Kuala Lumpur his home over the last half-decade. He wrote on contemporary South East Asian cinema and culture for Criticine, Kakiseni and Off The Edge and was close to completing his PhD, which looks at issues of identity in early Malay language films of the 1950s and 1960s. Benjamin died in July 2010 after a cardiac arrest in his home. He'll be remembered as an inspiring teacher and a sharp, eloquent critic; as well as being wonderful company.
